Artist Information for Tony and Christy Bodnar

Tony and I are accomplished artists, both dedicated educators with diverse expertise. I bring a wealth of experience in teaching Art and Spanish from kindergarten to the college level, while my husband has transitioned into a teaching career after his retirement from the Air Force, specializing in high school art and glass techniques at the college level and now serving as an elementary school principal.

Our artistic journey spans over 15 years, delving into the intricate world of glass. Originating from my background in stained glass, I introduced my husband to the art of glass fusion. Our shared passion led us to delve deeper into glassblowing, resulting in exquisite, handcrafted glass pieces in our studio, including blown, fused, cast, and torch-worked pieces that harmoniously blend functionality with aesthetics.

Exploring the versatility of glass, we find joy in experimenting with various techniques to showcase its myriads of qualities. Each of us brings a unique artistic flair to our collaborations, with color emerging as a primary muse. While Tony draws inspiration from the vibrant color reactions achievable in the hot shop, my artistic vision is guided by the bold, striking hues of folk art traditions worldwide, which influence my fused glass creations.

Despite our distinctive styles, our artistic endeavors seamlessly intertwine, exuding a cohesive charm owing to our shared color palette and design sensibilities. Nature serves as a profound wellspring of inspiration for us, particularly the tranquil allure of water and the comforting radiance of the sun. Our art often encapsulates the essence of our fondest memories, encapsulating carefree summer days spent by the beach.
